Local is Better
Local is always better. That’s what Max Dale’s believes because our slogan actually is, Local is Better. Our story is deeply rooted in the community that we opened in almost two decades ago.
Max Dale’s story can be dated all the way back to 1951 when Max and Pauline Dale, the original owners, were encouraged by their good friend and restaurateur from Seattle, Victor Rosellini, to rewrite their business plan in a way to better their business. This revision was a game changer in Max Dale’s future.
However in 1976, a fire burned Max Dale’s completely to the ground and with the help of my father, Tony Pickering a Safeco insurance adjuster and our local community, Max Dale’s was rebuilt. Using the discarded plans for a Black Angus and adding two large and rentable meeting rooms, Max Dale’s was open for business once again. And my father went into his new career in the restaurant business with Max Dale’s, purchasing the restaurant from the Dales in 1982 and never looked back.
Paul and I purchased the restaurant from my father in 2006. Together we own and manage Max Dale’s and its sister restaurant, Stanwood Grill. Now nearly twenty years later, Max Dale’s is still dedicated to its local community because they helped us rebuild and reopen our doors to Skagit. We work hard to give back to our community by being actively involved in organizations like Mount Vernon Parks Foundation, Hospice of the Northwest Foundation, Economic Development Association of Skagit County, Skagit Rotary Club, Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce, Skagit Wedding Society, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, WA State Restaurant Association and the Skagit/Island Counties Builder’s Association.
With the culinary creative mind of Chef David and our rich history here in Skagit county starting back with Max and Pauline Dale; we work hard to ensure that we fulfill our promise to the community, of a unique and sophisticated fine-dining experience that you can only find at Max Dale’s.
Because no matter where you go in the country or the world, you won’t find the same unique flavor that only the local community can provide you with. Because we at Max Dale’s do so firmly believe that Local is Better.
